This course has been designed to meet the growing CPD needs of senior clinicians who want to expand their knowledge of both benign and serious, spinal and non-spinal, causes of spinal pain.

Who’s it for?
This course is designed for senior, clinical specialist and extended scope physiotherapists.
What’s it for?
The objective of this course is to provide an evidence based approach to the diagnosis and management of less common and uncommon/rare causes of spinal and radiating symptoms.
How will it achieve this?
- Numerous pathologies will be discussed including the diagnostic accuracy of assessment and diagnostic procedures used in musculoskeletal medicine.
- The course will also provide an evidence based approach to the use of radiological imaging procedures, and the provision of evidence based advice for patients with regard to management and prognosis of the specific conditions presented.
- Case studies will be used to illustrate some specific pathologies.
- Practical aspects of diagnostic tests will be discussed, demonstrated and practised as determined by the needs of the participants.
About the presenter
Steven Young graduated from the Leeds School of Physiotherapy in 1982, and currently works as a Consultant Physiotherapist (Spinal Services) for the Pennine Musculoskeletal Partnership (PMSKP), Oldham PCT.
Steven has worked extensively in the field of Spinal Disorders, first as an extended scope practitioner, and was appointed as one of the first Consultant Physiotherapists in 2003. His research interests include self management strategies for spinal disorders and prevention strategies (two papers published).
Steven has taught extensively in the UK and internationally over the past 14 years in the field of diagnosis and management of spinal disorders.
